Maria Shriver hosted its3rd annual benefit to support Best Buddies International at the Montage Beverly Hills on August 18, 2013. Founded by former First Lady of California Maria Shriver, Team Maria strives to champion Best Buddies’ mission of fostering friendships, leadership development, and job opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Best Buddies® is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to create opportunities for one-to-one friendships above all.
Founded in 1989 by Anthony K. Shriver, Best Buddies is a vibrant, international organization that has grown from one original chapter to almost 1,700 middle school, high school, and college chapters worldwide. Best Buddies programs engage participants in each of the 50 United States, and in 50 countries around the world.
Supporting Maria’s cause, professional athletes and special guests participated at the 3rd annual charity event which included actors Rob Lowe and Verne Troyer; actresses Maureen McCormick, Cheryl Hines, Kelly Hu, former LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Celebrity Interior Designer Luigi Irauzqui, Lacey Chabert among others.
